1981 Ford Capri III 2.8i

And so the end of a legend, with the final genuinely exciting Capris. With its market dominance threatened by the growth of the hot hatch and sales on the slide, Ford needed to do something to revitalise the Capri. The adoption of the 2792cc ‘Cologne’ V6 engine in 1981 for the 2.8i did just that, giving the breed back some of the vigour it had possessed in its earlier days, with 130mph possible from 160 horses. Best of all was the special edition 280, the last Capri of ‘em all. Available only in Brooklands Green, a mere 1038 were made.
