Built by Ford Motorsports Racing division in England for group B racing, Ford utilized chief engineer and former F1 engineer John Wheeler and former F1 designer Tony Southgate in charge of it's production.

To be legal for racing Ford built 200 of the RS 200 regular cars (rated at 247 hp) and out of the 200, only 24 were converted to the Evolution model, From what I have read the early cars produced in 1984 and 1985 and early 1986 only had 420 bhp turbo charged engines but in late 1986 a very few of the 24 cars designated were made utiliziing the new Turbo Charged 600 bhp 2.1 liter engines planned for the 1987 racing season.

The RS 200 Evolution with this engine is the most powerful rally car ever built.

This Group B Rally car had performance comparable to Formula 1 cars of the same era and has faster 0-60 times than an Enzo Ferrari or a McClaren F1 and was rated as one of the fastest cars in the World for over many years according to several sources.

The body was designed by Ghia and Built by Reliant utilizing honeycomb composite construction. The yellowist tint shown in the undercarriage photos is the factory cosmoline type rust preventative put on by the factory when new.

The twin wishbone suspension, desigined by Ford Motor Sports has twin adjustable shocks at all 4 wheels. The work shop manual was even partially written with the assistance of Jackie Stewart where he discusses the racing attributes of this rocket ship on wheels.

The interior, which has been comfortably trimmed by Tickford having been fitted with grey carpeting with red piping , matching grey door inserts, red Sparco seats and a matching red leather steering wheel.
