For those thrill-seekers who wanted real excitement in their lives, and who could afford one, the BMW 2002 Turbo really was the ultimate driving machine. It was Europe’s first turbocharged production car, and like all the earliest cars to sport a blower, the 2002 Turbo was prodigiously powerful and suffered from massive turbo lag. But keep the revs up, and anticipate when the turbo would start spinning, and there were few saloons in the world that could keep up. Only 1672 were built, making them rare and expensive today – but what a laugh for the money...
