1977 Aston Martin V8 Vantage

With 1977 the Queen’s Silver Jubilee year, Britain seemed keen to celebrate all that was best about itself... so what better time for the V8 Vantage to be launched? Hailed as ‘Britain’s first supercar,’ its 5.3-litre V8 unleashed an incredible 438bhp. The dash to 60mph took just 5.4 seconds; top speed was 170mph. Visually, the car could be distinguished by a blanked-off grille and bonnet scoop. 1978’s Oscar India variant adopted a small boot spoiler and a smoother bonnet, with the car continuing in this form until 1990. The rich person’s Ford Capri!
