1975 Daimler 4.2 Coupé

Announced in 1973, the Daimler Coupé – a short-wheelbase, pillarless variation on the XJ6/Sovereign saloon theme – seemed to have a lot going for it. The lines were even more handsome than those of the standard saloons and the truncated length added a sporty aura. However, when the Coupé finally made it into production in 1975, as a Series 2 model, it had a difficult life. Build quality was poor and the black vinyl roofs sported by each model were allegedly there to hide imperfections. Just 1598 were made before a halt was called in 1977.
