1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III

The adoption of the V8 engine for the Cloud II was universally regarded as an improvement. Not everybody was convinced by the 1962 facelift that created the Cloud III, though. It modernised the looks but old school aficionados bemoaned the loss of the traditional ‘face’. However, it didn’t offend the ‘new money’ celebrities who were now buying into the Rolls-Royce dream; John Lennon even had his Cloud III painted in a psychedelic colour scheme. A raised compression ratio resulted in more power although, predictably, how much more remained a secret.
