1967 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3

In 1968, Mercedes engineers went slightly bonkers and dropped the 6.3-litre V8 from the 600 into the longer wheelbase 300’s bodyshell, but keeping all the luxuries like air suspension. With the engine’s massive torque, the result was a muscle car in disguise, and unlike most American muscle cars it came with dual-circuit four-wheel disc brakes. This was a luxury saloon that could outpace most of the sports cars on sale at the time, though you did have to cough up more than the price of a Ferrari Daytona for the pleasure.
