1989 Ferrari 348

In many ways the 348 is more closely related to its big brother Testarossa than the 328 it replaced. The V8 engine is still there, but it’s been much revised, upped to 3.4 litres with an extra 30bhp, and turned 90 degrees to be mounted longitudinally and set lower in the chassis. Only the gearbox is transverse this time. Great strides have been made with aerodynamics, and the side strakes and black grille over the tail-lights are straight out of the Testarossa design book, as is the relatively spacious cockpit. It is more nervous to drive than a 328 though.
