1955 Peugeot 403 Saloon

Peugeot’s 1950s saloon was little more than a reskin of the 203; it was larger, more luxurious, and ended up being sold alongside the older car as an upgrade for an increasingly affluent market. Pinin Farina assisted with the styling – leading to an enduring partnership – but with full-width bodywork and neat detailing, it struck a chord with the French middle-classes. The popular Familiale version was innovative for offering three rows of seats, while the diesel version sold well in its home country as it was a rugged and reliable workhorse.
