1948 Daimler DB18 Sports Special

With the DB18 saloons and convertibles representing the sportier side of Daimler, the 1948 Sports Special version of the type was a step closer to the wild side. Twin carburettors helped squeeze 85bhp from the 2522cc six-cylinder engine. Barker were responsible for most of the bodies and its design featured a rear passenger seat facing sideways, thus making the car a three-seater. Hooper weighed in with the heavier ‘Empress’ saloon style, although alloy-on-ash construction for both machines helped keep performance up.
