This is the 3rd generation of Rx-7 and this one carried the name of Efini RX-7 in Japan while elsewhere it was simply called Rx-7. The RX7 carries a timeless design with its curved body, discrete vents, door mounted mirrors, hidden door handles.
In addition to the design this is a real sports car having a rotary engine that generates around 255 horsepower with the addition of a sequential twin-turbo system. The chassis consists of a front and rear double wishbone suspension was made utilising aluminium that decreased unsprung weight substantially, together with a 50:50 weight.
Many other option packages included sunroofs and rear window wipers. Cruise control, bose acoustic wave audio systems.The front lip and rear wing were included as standard for the Type R models, however were as an option for other models. The first version RX7 only had one 16" lightweight alloy style of wheel available.
Best fuel economy was 7km/l which was not great but for a sports car, it was still pretty good. Available versions twere the “
type X”, “
type R” and “
type S”. The type R was a 5 speed manual only, while the others versions had options of a 4speed AT.
Introduction colours were.
Brilliant Black, Montego Blue Metallic, Vintage Red, Silver Stone Metallic, Competition Yellow Metallic and White which was offered later in production.
