1963 TVR Griffith V8

American racing driver Jack Griffith approached TVR with a proposal to produce a V8-engined Grantura for competition. TVR agreed and supplied Grantura bodies and chassis for Griffith to fit 4727cc Ford V8s in to. These cars were badged as the Griffith in the USA and were offered with either a manual or automatic gearbox. Performance was predictably swift. Some models could top 150mph and hit 60 in around six seconds. In truth, they were overpowered – and only remained in production for a couple of years. A great idea for the future, though...
