1961 Lancia Flavia saloon

Like every other post-war Lancia, the Flavia was innovative compared with the class of 1960. It was the first front-wheel-drive Lancia, making the Italian company one of the earliest adopters of this transmission layout, beating BMC into the 1500cc sector by eight years. But it didn’t stop there – the V4 engine was new for Lancia, as was the all-disc brake set-up. The Berlina was styled in-house, and it showed – its boxy styling doing a great job of hiding the groundbreaking technical specification under a cloud of mediocrity.
