1955 Armstrong-Siddeley Sapphire 236

Despite sharing a name with the bigger 346, this Sapphire was less appealing thanks to the 236 being powered by a 2.3-litre engine previously seen on the Whitley and Lancaster/Hurricane, and the 234 by a smaller version of the 346’s power unit. Both cars failed to make an impression on the market, selling disastrously – and you’ll be hard-pressed to find one now, thanks to their relative lack of appeal compared with the 346 and the Star Sapphire. Best known for being a contributing factor in Armstrong Siddeley’s closure.
