1946 Armstrong-Siddeley Hurricane DHC

As part of a two-pronged attack on the world’s car markets, Armstrong Siddeley introduced this stylish two-door drophead. Using the same chassis and running gear as the Lancaster, it might have been a little stodgy to drive, but the styling set it apart from its pre-war counterparts: flush-fitting headlights and faired in front wings (from the Lancaster) were up to the minute. The 70bhp 1991cc overhead valve engine was carried over from the pre-war 16hp, but was rugged and torquey, offering easy 50mph cruising in those restrained times.
