1980 Morris Ital

The all-new name probably raised expectations, but it’s an inescapable fact that the Ital was a disappointing end to the once-great Morris marque (a few Morris Metro vans followed, but that doesn’t count). We sadly don’t know Giugiaro’s views on the Ital – a car that was not styled by his studios – but he can’t have been flattered by the Euro-generic styling treatment that the Harris Mann studio came up with. A-plus engines were economical and the 2-litre O-Series powered auto could be exciting. But for all the wrong reasons.
