All change for the 1980s as TVR adopt radical new wedge-shaped bodies from the pen of former Lotus designer Oliver Winterbottom. Launched as a two-seater coupé, the range expanded with a 2+2 and convertible in 1981. The former was short lived, but when it was dropped, the larger body, sans rear seats, was used for the coupé. Engine was from Ford again – the Cologne V6 from the Capri 2.8i. From 1983 a five-speed gearbox was introduced; the following year the Tasmin was rebadged 280i. There was a Pinto-powered Tasmin 200 for a short time, but this was not popular.
