Drive System:

When Rootes decided to build a hot version of the Imp, it was logical to market it as a Sunbeam, the group’s most flamboyant marque. What we got was a car closely related to the original, but thanks to the fitment of twin carburettors and wider wheels, not only was it faster in a straight line, but it was more fun in the corners. Another surprising success given the dominance of the Mini Cooper in the sector, but the Imp Sport’s smooth little engine and beautifully set-up engine made it a rewarding drive for press-on drivers. Well worth seeking out now.
