1979 Subaru SUBARU 1800 GLF

Subaru’s first official import into the UK was the mid-sized Leone saloon. When it arrived in the mid-1970s, the flat-four powered saloon and estate stood apart from all its rivals by being available in four-wheel drve form. And the farming set loved it for that – taking the oddball car to its collective heart. The squarer-cut 1800GLF that replaced the Leone in 1980 kept to the same formula, but offered more equipment and interior room, and continued to sell well into the ‘80s. Subaru’s signature flat-four and frameless side windows were here – shame so few survive.
