1975 Vauxhall Chevette

When launched in 1975, the Chevette combined the GM T-Car platform that had proved so successful in Germany as the Opel Kadett, and the willing Viva engine/transmission package. It was a very competent small car that was offered in saloon, hatchback and estate car form. The ‘droopsnoot’ styling proved to be a Vauxhall styling signature for a decade, and set them apart from their German counterparts. Easy to drive, and tidy handlers, the Chevette proved popular enough to stay in production until 1984 – long after it was supposed to be replaced by the Astra.
