The Maltese people are very generous and many fundraising events are held during the year for different causes in the form of galas, parties, barbeques, fairs, sport activities and car events.
L-Istrina is Malta's major charity event, and belongs to The Malta Community Chest Fund. The 12-hour TV marathon in aid of charity will be aired close to Christmas Day, on all local TV stations. However during the month of December L-Istrina is branched out to other sub events, such as this one at the entrance of Malta's main hospital Mater Dei on the 4th December 2011.
